Micronet College Hold Gala Event At Empire
5th Dec 2008

Bandar Seri Begawan - Micronet International College held a gala night yesterday evening at the opulent setting of the Empire Hotel and country club.

The college, which is one of the longest established private colleges in the sultanate, has provided NCC education for 15 years.

This year's gala event is rather special as NCC Education Managing Director, Mr Felix Straven came all the way from the United Kingdom to congratulate NCC Sept 2008 Graduates.

Two special presentations were also made by invited guests, Hj Umar bin Hj Abdullah Director of Information Technology and State Store at the Ministry of Finance and Awg Yahkup Hj Menudin from Brunei Shell Petroleum.

Hj Umar bin Hj Abdullah explained the various opportunities for IT professions in the public sector workforce, especially at the Ministry of Finance.

He also touched upon the human resource challenges in the implementation of an e-Government programme paying particular reference to the article "e-government target over ambitious adequacies are being address", published in the Bulletin on Nov 13.

Awg Yahkup Menudin, on the other hand, addressed the need for students to be self-motivated and resilient in pursuing their dreams or goals.

To further enliven the event, various performances such as traditional and modern dances as well as singing performances were made on stage by the Micronet students.
