Micronet Grads Make Diploma Inroads For Private Institutions
22nd Apr 2009

By James Kon. Bandar Seri Begawan - There are now three private institutions in the country that are registered as approved centres to run national diploma and higher national diploma that are issued and accredited by Brunei Darussalam Technical Education Council.

The Acting Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education, Awang Haji Suhaili Bin Hj Abd Karim, highlighted this in his keynote address at the Micronet International College 2009 Graduation Day on Thursday evening at the Empire Hotel and Country Club.
"There is no denying that it is a growing trend in this region and perhaps the world over that private educational institutions do supplement government educational institutions in providing education and training especially at post secondary and tertiary levels," he added.

However, he said, "There are many more innovative ways to strengthen public sector  strategic partnership in education that I hope Micronet and other private institutions with relevant government agencies could explore."

He congratulated the 77 graduates (18 grads with Advanced Dip.) who completed the NCC education international diploma in computer studies. Also present were Sylvester Yong, M.D. of Micronet Int'l College with G.M. Sharon Chin.

Three graduates also won awards from NCC Education of UK for outstanding grades: Mr Yong Ing Soon - South East Asia High Achiever Award (4 credits, four distinctions); Dyg Gusttine binti Hj Hidup - SEA High Achiever Award (1 pass, 3Cs, 5 Dis); Dyg Suraya binti Abdullah - Global Achiever Award (1C, 8Dis).   - Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
